What the heck is DICE?
Ditmas Indie Comics Extravaganza, or DICE, is Ditmas Park, Brooklyn’s premier comic festival dedicated to building a low barrier to entry space for small, local comic artists.
With the first DICE held at Taylor & Co Books (1021 Cortelyou Road) back in 2024, DICE has now expanded to also include The Brooklyn Artery (1004 Cortelyou), a store directly across the street. DICE is a free-to-attend event for comic artists, fans, and skeptics of all ages and identities!

Why should I come to DICE?
So many reasons! You can meet local comic artists and buy their comics and other works, you can participate in a free stamp rally and get a mystery prize if you complete it, AND you can attend the Comics Soirée on September 26th and see the artists read an excerpt from their new comics!
Is DICE free to attend?
Yes! It is 100% free to attend. Now more than ever, it’s critical that we show up to local art community events. And of course it doesn’t hurt to support an artist or two by buying their stuff.
Who runs DICE?
DICE is a labor of love organized by D Wang Zhao and Diana Schoenbrun and hosted in collaboration with Andrew Colarusso of Taylor & Co. Books, Annie Del Hierro-Jost and Meredith Jacks of Brooklyn Artery.
Is the Comics Soirée and Comic Arts Festival family-friendly?
Some art and comics may be for mature audiences. While some art may be okay for younger teens and children. It’s always good to ask the comic artist. All are welcome.
What is the masking policy at DICE?
We’re recommending everyone to wear a mask. We’ll also have free KN95 and N95’s available at both locations.
Can I volunteer?
Yes please! We’re looking for volunteers who can work partial shifts (11am-3pm for set up, 2-6pm) or for the entire day (11am-6pm).
Please reach out to D Wang (dwangzhao@gmail.com) if you’re interested.

What’s a comic and how do I eat it?
A comic is a form of sequential storytelling, typically in panels. (Not to be confused with a comedian who stands on stages.) Comics can be in printed book format or digital. Full of words or wordless. Please don’t eat the comics because they may cause indigestion and bloating.
