What is DICE?


Ditmas Indie Comics Extravaganza (DICE) is Ditmas Park, Brooklyn’s premier comic festival dedicated to fostering local talent and partnering with community spaces to create an intentional, hyperlocal event.

Now in our third year, DICE’s Comics Festival will be at both Taylor & Co. Books and Brooklyn Artery on Saturday, Sept 26th from 12-6pm. Join us for our comics reading soirée is happening on Friday, September 25th from 7:30-9:30pm at Brooklyn Artery. 

DICE is sponsored, in part, by the Greater New York Arts Development Fund of the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs, administered by Brooklyn Arts Council. We were awarded a 2026 Brooklyn Arts Fund grant by the Brooklyn Arts Council. :)

About the Poster!

Illustrated by DICE’s cofounder, D Wang Zhao, the poster rendered almost traditional was an intentional method. In a world obsessed with humanizing and normalizing Generative AI (barf!), the indie comics scene has fiercely stuck to its analog and DIY roots. 

This poster explores the deeply human aspect of making comics and tabling, but with a little bit of whimsy. It was originally conceived as a poster demonstrating the behind-the-scenes support D Wang’s family has done for them with cutting, collating, and printing their comics for tabling events.
It’s D Wang’s dad, holding up a piece of paper (as big as his head)!
Forget about using a sewing machine to do saddle stitching. What if you had people doing it by hand, Cinderella style?
Highlighting some of genres that will be present at DICE, including queer comics, furry fantasy, and kids comix!
